Your desert journey begins at Errachidia Airport, where your driver from Morocco Tours Office will welcome you.

We leave the city behind and head south through the spectacular Ziz Valley, one of the most impressive palm valleys in Morocco. The road follows the river, offering panoramic views over thousands of palm trees and small Berber villages built from mudbrick.

We stop in Aoufous, known for its vast oasis and peaceful atmosphere. This region has been an important agricultural center for centuries.

Continuing toward Erfoud, the gateway to the Sahara, you’ll notice the scenery becoming more arid and dramatic. Erfoud is famous for its date production and fossil workshops. If you are interested, we can visit a local fossil museum or artisan workshop where ancient marine fossils are polished into decorative pieces.

Overnight in a comfortable hotel or riad in Erfoud.

After breakfast, we drive toward Merzouga, home of the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes.

Instead of going directly to the camp, we spend the day discovering the region. We drive off-road around the dunes to understand the desert landscape and visit nomadic families living in traditional tents. Here, you’ll learn about their daily life and share a cup of tea — a simple but meaningful experience.

We continue to the old Mifis mines, once used for extracting minerals, and then head to Khamlia village, where descendants of Sub-Saharan Africans preserve their traditional Gnawa music. The rhythms are powerful and deeply rooted in history.

After lunch, we visit Hassi Lbeid oasis, a small but beautiful green area at the edge of the desert. A short walk here shows how life survives in this harsh environment.

Late afternoon, you meet your camel guide. Your camel ride across the dunes of Merzouga begins as the sun slowly sets, changing the colors of the sand from gold to deep orange.

At your desert camp, you will enjoy dinner, traditional music around the fire, and a quiet night under the stars. The desert sky here is unforgettable.

Overnight in a private tent (standard or luxury option available).

Wake up early if you wish to watch the sunrise over the dunes — the light at this hour is soft and magical.

After breakfast at the camp, we return by camel or 4x4 to the village.

On the way back to Errachidia, we stop in Rissani, the former capital of the Tafilalet region and an important trading center. If your travel dates coincide with market day, you will see one of the most authentic souks in southern Morocco — no tourist show, just real daily life.

We visit the Moulay Ali Cherif Mausoleum, an important historical site, before continuing our drive through the palm groves of Tafilalet.
