Your 2-day Merzouga desert trip from Errachidia begins with a pickup from Errachidia Airport or your hotel. From here, the journey heads south toward the Sahara through the impressive landscapes of eastern Morocco.

The first highlight of the day is the Ziz Valley, one of Morocco’s most beautiful oasis valleys. From a panoramic viewpoint you can admire thousands of palm trees stretching along the valley floor. The route then continues through small desert towns toward Erfoud, a town famous for fossils and date production. If you wish, you can visit a local fossil workshop to see how ancient stones are transformed into decorative pieces.

In the afternoon, continue toward Merzouga, where the first golden dunes of Erg Chebbi appear on the horizon. Here you will meet your camel guide and begin a peaceful camel ride across the sand dunes. During the trek, you will stop on a high dune to enjoy the sunset over the Sahara — one of the most memorable moments of the trip.

After sunset, arrive at your desert camp, where you will be welcomed with traditional Moroccan tea. Dinner is served under the stars, followed by Berber music around the campfire. Overnight stay in your Sahara desert camp.

Wake up early to witness a beautiful sunrise over the dunes of Erg Chebbi. As the sunlight slowly changes the colors of the sand, the desert becomes quiet and magical.

After breakfast at the camp, ride the camels back to Merzouga village where your driver will be waiting.

The journey continues to Rissani, a historic desert town that was once the center of trade in the Tafilalet region. Here you can visit the traditional souk, known for its authentic atmosphere, spices, dates, and local crafts.

You may also visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif, an important historical site connected to the Alaouite dynasty.

After exploring Rissani, the road leads back toward Errachidia, passing once again through the palm groves and desert landscapes of the Tafilalet region. Arrival in Errachidia Airport or your accommodation marks the end of your 2-day Merzouga desert trip from Errachidia.
