Your 5-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga begins with a morning pick-up from your accommodation. The road climbs into the High Atlas Mountains, passing through small Berber villages and spectacular mountain scenery.

After crossing the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, the route continues toward Ait Ben Haddou, a historic fortified village recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This kasbah has been used as a filming location for many well-known movies and series.

After exploring the village, continue to Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the desert. From here, the journey continues through Skoura, famous for its palm groves and old kasbahs, before reaching Kalaat M’Gouna, known as the Valley of Roses.

Arrival in Dades Valley in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay in a traditional kasbah.

After breakfast, drive through the scenic landscapes toward Todra Gorge, one of Morocco’s most impressive natural canyons. The towering cliffs create a dramatic setting where you can take a short walk along the river.

The journey continues through desert towns and palm groves toward Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara.

In the afternoon, meet your camel guide and begin a camel trek into the dunes of Erg Chebbi. As the sun sets over the desert, the sand changes color and the silence of the Sahara becomes unforgettable. Dinner and overnight stay in a desert camp with traditional music.

Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes before breakfast at the camp.

Today you will explore the desert region around Merzouga. Visit nomadic families living near the dunes and learn about their traditional way of life. Continue to Khamlia village, where you will experience the rhythms of traditional Gnawa music.

Later, explore the surrounding desert landscapes, including fossil areas and small oasis villages such as Hassi Labied.

In the afternoon, return to your accommodation near the dunes. Dinner and overnight stay in a desert riad or hotel.

After breakfast, depart from the desert and visit Rissani, an old trading town known for its traditional market and historic importance as the former capital of the Tafilalt region.

From there, continue across the dramatic landscapes of Jebel Saghro, a region known for its volcanic mountains and wide desert plains. Stop in Alnif for lunch before continuing toward Nkob, a quiet village surrounded by palm groves and old kasbahs.

Nkob is often called the “kingdom of kasbahs” because of the many historic mud-brick buildings scattered across the valley. Dinner and overnight stay in Nkob.

After breakfast, travel through the beautiful Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest river valley, famous for its endless palm groves and traditional villages.

Stop in Agdz for panoramic views before continuing toward Ouarzazate. After a break for lunch, the road climbs once again into the High Atlas Mountains.
